Golden Age

What better place to rest your weary space-boots than the Hotel Fortunata?  Named after the Marianne Galaxy's first man-made constellation, Fortunata Cierta Major, this lush resort has all the amenities guaranteed to give you the vacation you've been waiting for. We're equipped with four dining rooms, three Olympic-sized swimming pools, indoor and outdoor conservatories, fitness and game rooms on each floor, two day-spas and a night spa (for those "special" encounters you'd like to keep off the record), and a private lounge specifically for those on shore leave.  Our state-of-the-art atmospheric security bubble allows our unique location; enjoy the one-of-a-kind sunsets you can only find on oxygen-weak planets, and at the same time rest assured that you've never slept in a safer facility.

Starting Area

The red button for this time period is located next to an Olympic-sized pool.  The pool is located on the third level Section Alpha of the hotel, as the copious wall markings will tell you, and posted hours are available on the door in several chronological systems, including the modern-day Earth equivalent of 4am to 10pm.  The rest of the time it can be assumed the doors to this room are locked and alarmed.

Your next move may be to figure out where you are.  Perhaps you make it down to the lobby, or stop someone who looks like they may work here.  You might be surprised when they address you by name, and ask you if you are ready to check in.  And sure enough, there you are on the guest list.  They’ve been expecting you all along.

Resort Interior

The main guest area of the Hotel Fortunata is made up of three floors with three sections each (Alpha, Beta and Gamma).  Each section intersects with the others to form a triangle.  Each point of the triangle contains a bank of elevators and a walkway to the middle, which houses a two-level indoor conservatory encased in five-foot-thick glass, suspended over the lobby below.  The second and third levels are virtually identical: Alpha section contains the swimming pool, spa and fitness room; Beta primarily contains the dining, lounge and game room areas, and Gamma contains the bulk of the guest rooms.  The third level has a night spa (which is basically a day spa with a brothel) and a private lounge and bar for those on shore leave while the second level has a plain old day spa.

The first level contains the same amenities as the second level and in the same configuration, with the exception of the main lobby in the center instead of a conservatory.  No guest rooms are found on this floor, and the Gamma section instead contains a bar lounge, and an extra, larger dining room.

Resort Grounds

The main entrance is located on Level One at the apex of the Alpha and Beta sections.  Walking out through the doors you're met with the hotel grounds.  Gardens surround the hotel, but the main bulk of them is on the Alpha side of the building.  Behind, near the Gamma side, is a greenhouse and small zoo containing the most amazing array of flora and fauna you've ever witnessed.  Most species are completely alien to you, although there may be a few you recognize.

The grounds off the Alpha side of the building house the "parking garage" and launch bay.  There is also a maintenance shed that is off-limits to visitors.  The launch bay is where the visitors embark and disembark, since the entire hotel and grounds are surrounded by a strange bubble.  You can't see beyond the bubble, but you're told that what's out there is what's left of the Earth—a vast wasteland with absolutely no signs of life and no sustainable atmosphere.  The only way out of the bubble is by taking a trip into space; however, attempts to even get to the top of the launch bay platform will exceed the boundaries of this time period and you'll be rendered unconscious before you even set foot onboard. The impenetrability of the bubble makes it impossible to determine how far the borders for the time period extend in any cardinal direction.

The monorail track makes a circle around the resort, stopping at each attraction (front of the resort, greenhouse and zoo, docking garage/launch pad).  Without it you cannot visit the docking garage or the greenhouse and zoo, due to the moat lying between them and the resort.  The monorail is free to all guests.

With the exception of the walkways, sound will not carry from level to level or penetrate the hotel from the outside, although you may be heard from section to section if you scream loud enough.  But what would you have to scream about?  You're on vacation!

Inhabitants

Travellers

The guests of the hotel come in all shapes and sizes, colors, and temperaments.  If you're a savvy space traveler yourself you may recognize quite a few of them, but others may be completely alien to you.

Hotel Staff

These come in two varieties, depending on the level of service.  The worker drones are, in essence, cheap clones and generally perform maintenance, housekeeping and low-level security work.  Real live people staff the customer service, management and high-level security positions, although as with the guests they may come in all shapes and sizes.  Each member of staff wears a communications badge which will instantly connect them with the main operations network, no matter where they are in the hotel.

Brothel Workers

Telepathic shapeshifters from the planet Neru, they can assume whichever form you desire.
